Today’s Pokemon Presents included a lot of news for fans to take in and also sparked interest in all the Dual Poison/Ground Pokemon available, following the reveal of the Paldean Wooper.
One of the big reveals of the show was that there will be special forms exclusive to the Paldean region. And one of the most eye-catching confirmed from this week’s showcase was the Paldean Wooper.
What makes this new addition more special than others is that it will beef up the ranks of the Dual Poison/Ground Pokemon types currently available in the game.
Currently, there are only two Dual Poison/Ground Pokemon that can be found in the sprawling franchise Pokedex.
If you check out the list of Half Poison-type Pokemon, trainers will find two very important Pocket Monsters topping the list, and a new one that will soon be added.
Up until now, Nidoqueen and Nidoking have been the only Dual Poison/Ground Pokemon found in any Pokemon game to date. But this will change with the launch of Pokemon Violet & Scarlet later this year when the Paldean Wooper enters the scene.
And Wooper wasn’t the only Pocket Monster to get a regional form, with the current list including Paldean Wooper, Fidough, and Cetitan. However, while these other two Pocket Monsters will certainly bulk out your collection, neither provide much in terms of uniqueness when it comes to dual types.
The official Pokemon description for the Paldean Wooper reads:
Paldean Wooper, the Poison Fish Pokémon!
In ancient times, Wooper lived underwater in the Paldea region. But it seems after losing in a struggle for territory, they began living in bogs on land. To keep from drying out while living on land, they began to cover their bodies with a poisonous film.
These Wooper’s gills have hardened thanks to living on the land for so long. Their bodies are heavy, and they move slowly, but they can protect themselves by shooting powerful poisonous liquid from their gills. You may see poisoned Pokémon in areas where these Wooper live.
