Mobile gaming giant Azur Games acquires 81% of the Mushroom Wars from Zillion Whales. Azur Games announced the partnership with a blog post on the company’s official website. The acquisition includes the development team, intellectual property, and trademarks of Zillion Whales, but the brand remains with the investors.

The franchise’s most successful game is Mushroom Wars 2. The real-time strategy game is available on mobile platforms, consoles, and PC. The game surpassed 20 million downloads and won Best App Store Game in both 2016 and 2017.
In the official statement Dmitry Yaminsky, co-founder of Azur Games explained the details of the partnership:
“Nowadays, the mobile market is all about product quality, but the Mushroom Wars series was always ahead of the curve and showcased the attention to detail no one expected. The team isn’t chasing quantity because it dramatically reduces the chances of releasing a hit game.
Needless to say, it paid off — very few studios in the industry have received as much attention, awards and even successfully entered the console and PC markets, as the guys did with Mushroom Wars 2. We really appreciate their approach and try to invest in more teams similar to theirs. The original investors will keep the studio brand while we’ll focus on working on the current project and launching new ones.”
Andrey Korotkov, head of the Mushroom Wars development studio, added:
“We’re very happy to join the Azur Games team and already feel the synergy as we’re actively developing our first joint product. This is the kind of a strategic partnership that will benefit both parties and millions of players.”
Azur Games acquired stakes in KobGames Studios and Skyrocket in 2021. Last month the studio continued investing and acquired 30% of the Pinpin Team. The company stated in the official statement that they are not planning to stop investing any time soon.
